DEAF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORK
A project has been developed with funding support from the NHS Doncaster Health. Gillian Wilson and Diane Taylor are two dedicated Development Workers, working on a job share basis,for the Deaf Community. Their work and that of the project will target, reach out and aim to include people who are Deaf/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.
The aim of the project is to 'work towards empowering members of the Doncaster Deaf Community to access a range of opportunities and to work with service providers to raise awareness of the needs of all Deaf people in order for their services to become more accessible to the Deaf community.

Healthy Living session at the Deaf Centre
With the help and support of the Development Workers to the Deaf Community and Age Concerns small grants the Doncaster and District Deaf Society (DDDS) were successful in securing £140.00 to help them to hold a Healthy Living and Nutritional Advice session and lunch targeted at older people. Working in partnership with Jennie East who is the Life Styles Occupational Therapist from the South Yorkshire Centre for Inclusive Living (SYCIL) DDDS were able to present a valuable and informative healthy life styles and nutrition afternoon session to 20 people from the Doncaster deaf community.
South Yorkshire Centre
