COFFEE MORNINGS - NEW TO SYCIL - EVERY THURSDAY 10.00 am - 12 nooon

Fancy a cuppa and a chat?  Drop in to our weekly coffee mornings which are ran by SYCIL Volunteers.  All welcome!

NEW!  Beginning Wednesday 22 February, and every Wednesday at 10.30 am thereafter, the SYCIL team  will also be hosting another Chairbased exercise class at Rokeby Gardens, Kirk Sandall.   Call Nicola or Debbie on 01302 89 29 49.

Seating Matters - Wednesday 18 April - 12noon - 2.00 pm

A free training day which includes a demonstration of equipment by 'Seating Matters', a specialist seating company who provides seating solutions for both adults and children.

C.P.D Certificates of Attendance are available on request for both days.

CARE BASE -  Wednesday 14 March - 11.00 am - 12 noon and 12.30 pm - 1.30 pm

A free training and demonstration event of equipment by Carebase - includes an electrically adjustable bed and a Portable Gantry System.

Consultation event - Tuesday 28 February 1 - 4pm

Have your say about the Government’s new Disability Strategy, Fulfilling Potential.

Between 1st December 2011 and 9th March 2012 The Office For Disability Issues is running a national consultation, which SYCIL's event will feed into.

All disabled people and anyone who makes a difference to disabled people’s lives, for example families, carers, employees and service providers are invited to join in the consultation at SYCIL in Kirk Sandall.

It is a registration only event and you should book by calling Helen or Sandy on 01302 89 29 49 or emailing helen.b@sycil.org.

Choosing Independence

The Choosing Independence team at SYCIL are proud to launch their latest suite of training programmes starting in October. All sessions are FREE to Disabled People, Carers and Personal Assistants living in the Doncaster and Rotherham areas. Titles of the courses being held are:

First Aid at Work Wednesday - 28th March

One day HSE Approved - 9.30 am - 4.30 pm - £50.00 per delegate. Due to demand there are limited places on this course, therefore early booking is recommended!

 

Employing a PA (13th March, 20th March and 27th March)

Three Part Course - Each Session:  9.30 am - 12 noon

Confidence Building and Assertivness - 15th March

9.30 am - 12 noon

 

Disability Equality Training - 22nd March

9.30  am - 12 noon

 

Deaf Awareness - 29th March

1.00 pm - 3.30 pm

Nikki Webber MBE

Nikki Webber, SYCIL Volunteer, was recently awarded a MBE at the Queens Birthday honours list for 2011.

Nikki, who was injured in a car accident when she was 9 years old, has worked with South Yorkshire and Nottingham Police advising on Road Safety for Children and Young Adults.

She also advises other organisations on a range of disability issues.
