1.      What are the benefits of being a member of SYCIL?

 

i)          You will be able to receive information in your preferred format, i.e. in Braille, clear print, by email, on tape, etc.

 

ii)        You will be eligible to attend meetings for members, including the SYCIL AGM

 

iii)       You will be able to receive the SYCIL newsletter and other regular information produced for circulation to members

 

iv)      You will be eligible to a 3 % members’ discount when you buy items from the SYCIL Small Items Shop

 

v)        You will be eligible, as a member, to be nominated (by a full member) to become a Trustee or Director of SYCIL, unless you:

 

·               Have been convicted of any offence involving dishonesty or deception;

·               Are an undischarged bankrupt;

·               Have been removed from office as a charity trustee on the grounds of misconduct or mismanagement;

·               Are disqualified under company law.

 

vi)      You will have full voting rights at the SYCIL AGM, if you are a full member or existing Director.

 

vii)     You will be able, if you are a full member, to submit resolutions to the AGM (as long as these are submitted by the required date).

 

viii)    You will have the right not to have information about you, such as your address, telephone number, etc. shared by SYCIL with other people or organisations, unless you give your permission.

 

ix)      You will be able to access the members’ only link on the SYCIL website.

 

x)        You will be able to attend members’ meetings and meet, help and exchange information with other people who are members of SYCIL.

 

xi)      You will be able to attend members’ training courses organised by SYCIL.

 

xii)     You will be able, through consultations, social events, the SYCIL members’ newsletter and website, to have your say about key issues affecting SYCIL.

 

2.      What will be my responsibilities as a SYCIL member?

 

2.1.    SYCIL needs an active, vibrant membership which includes people of all ages and backgrounds. If you decide to become a member of SYCIL, think about what skills and experience you can bring to the organisation.

 

2.2.    Without the agreement of the Board of Directors, you will not be eligible to represent SYCIL officially.

 

3.      What do I have to do to become a member of SYCIL?

 

3.1.    You should complete a SYCIL membership form and return it to:
