Norman Britton
I am a retired Headteacher and a grand parent. My school was well known as an inclusive school and made many successful placements of Disabled children. In my professional and personal lives I devoted myself to securing the best possible deal for families, including mine.
Before I retired I attended a SYCIL AGM and became involved with the organisation. I have remained as a trustee in my first five years of retirement. The ethos of the organisation and the drive and dedication of its workforce are an inspiration to all who come into contact.
I am full of optimism for the future as “Personalisation “ offers people the ability to organise their own lives as they see fit. I worry, however, about groups seeking to profit from their involvement in the process. We are well placed to guide people through this new phase of support. No other organisation has the trustee and work force involvement of so many people with direct experience of securing quality services and good outcomes.

Nikki Webber
Hi, my name is Nikki Webber, I am currently continuing the work that SYCIL gave me the courage to get involved in. I now work with various organisations including the Police and local schools, presenting my own unique show based on my experiences as a Disabled person with brain damage.
When I was 9 years old I was knocked down by a car and suffered severe brain damage which has taught me a lot about how to deal with life.
SYCIL has always been there for me to help aid my weaknesses. A few of my ultimate achievements include my Tower Trek, Road Safety Website: www.NikkiWebber.co.uk, Radio Show and my MBE award.
SYCIL has shown me the yellow brick road and I have gained courage, knowledge, skills and independence from it. To me SYCIL also means Supporting Yourself 2 Continue Independent Living.

Rochelle Dawes
Hello, I’m Rochelle - one of Trustee’s on the Board of Director’s, here at South Yorkshire Centre for Inclusive Living. The reasons I became a Trustee were vast; most significantly, I wished to have involvement in as many aspects of SYCIL as I could.
Having previously been a service user here at SYCIL I would hope that I could comprehend the desires of the individuals who use the services. Becoming a Director allows me to gain the understanding of work done behind the scenes. The outcome to this on-going partnership is to allow me now and in the future, to use some of my experience and knowledge; ultimately to influence some of the vital decisions being made in the organisation, for the better.

Brian Rawson
Hi, I am Brian, I am married to Yvonne who I met on the internet some 8 years ago. We both enjoy days out, the theatre and bingo! I have been a volunteer in some form or another since I began volunteering at SYCIL over 10 years ago. This proved to be a very good move as my confidence & personal development soared.
While I have been at SYCIL I have done many different courses including Disability Equality Training, which led to me becoming a DET Trainer and which I very much enjoy doing.
I was asked to join the Board of Trustees in 2010 which, I am very honoured to be on as it shows that SYCIL is a user lead organisation run for Disabled people by Disabled people.
